Italian Mini Subs

Priscilla's Italian Mini Subs

A delicious way to make great sub sandwiches at home! I made these at my sister's house for us and they were a huge hit. She even reheated the leftovers in her air fryer and told me they were just like a fresh sub. So no need to order out, make a money saving sub at home and enjoy!

Yield:  8

Ingredients:

1 package mini sub buns, 8 count typically

24 slices provolone cheese

1/2 - 1 cup shredded Italian blend cheese

5 oz pepperoni slices

1/2 lb hard salami slices

9 oz black forest ham slices

1/4 cup Olive Garden dressing (see note)

15 oz tomato sauce (see note)

1/2 tbsp Italian seasoning

Instructions:

1.  Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Slice the tops off the buns and set aside. Spray the baking pan with non stick spray. Place the mini sub rolls in the 9x13 baking dish.

2.  In a small bowl, mix the tomato sauce and Italian seasoning. Set aside.

3.  Start by layering 2 slices of ham on each base. Next add slices of pepperoni so each base has about 6-8 slices. Add 2 salami slices on each sub base. Next add 2 slices of provolone. Add a couple tsp of the tomato sauce mixture to cover the cheese. You can add as much or as little as you want of this to your own preference.

4. Repeat each layer. Once you add the 2nd layer of tomato sauce, add the shredded Italian cheese on top and place the tops of the buns atop each base sub made.

5.  With the Italian dressing in a small measuring cup or bowl, use a brush and coat each bun top with the dressing until all are done and no dressing is left.

6.  Cover with foil and bake for 15 minutes. The subs should be heated through and the cheese melted.

7.  Remove the foil and bake for an additional 5-10 minutes, until the tops are just a little crusty.

8.  Allow to cool for a few minutes. Then serve each mini sub! Enjoy!

Note:

Any Italian dressing would work so feel free to use your favorite.

You won't necessarily use all the tomato sauce mixture. Use as much as desired to your preference.

Feel free to add different meats and additional of any that are your favorites. We love salami so we use more.
